History 8 Bills for Committee

IN THE CLASS

Student Kaleb Barrett introduced the following bill, which was referred to the committee on September 18, 2007.

A BILL

To establish a law that limits the weight of homework that students have to carry home.

  1. Be it enacted by the Students
  2. in the Eight Grade History
  3. Class at Wicomico Day School
  4. in Salisbury, that
  5. the weight of homework will be limited to
  6. three (3) pounds and
  7. the homework should be eliminated until it weighs less than the limit.
  8. Whereas, the students will have less to carry and have less back problems.
  9. Whereas, the students will have less homework to do and are less stressed.
  10. Whereas, the students will have more time to rest.
  11. Whereas, the students will have better focus and pay more attention.
  12. Whereas, the students will have more time for extracurricular activities and time
  13. to volunteer in the community.
  14. Whereas, the teachers have less papers to check.
  15. Whereas, the effect will be more eco-friendly; less paper used/ thrown away.
  16. All laws or parts of laws in conflict
  17. herewith are hereby repealed to the
  18. extent of the conflict.
  19. If any portion of this act is declared
  20. unconstitutional, it is the intention
  21. of this legislature that the other
  22. portions shall remain in full force
  23. and effect.

Student Miles Campbell introduced the following bill, which was referred to the committee on September 18, 2007.

A BILL

To establish the international sport as football.

1. Be it enacted by the Students

2. in the Eight Grade History

3. Class at Wicomico Day School

4. in Salisbury, that

5. Whereas, there is no national

6. Sport as of today.

7. Whereas, baseball is the national

8. Past time and could stay the same

9. And have football as the national sport.

10. Whereas, football is the most watched sport

11. By many Americans. Whereas, football

12. Is the most talked about sport in the United States of America.

13. Whereas, football also has the biggest championship game.

14. Whereas, the enjoyment of sports

15. Enhances people’s lives.

16. Be it therefore resolved that

17. The government of the

18. United States declare football

19. As the national sport.

20. All laws or part of laws in conflict

21. herewith are hereby repealed to the

22. Extent of the conflict.

23. If any portion of this act is declared

To establish a Children’s Week.

5. whereas there is a Mother’s Day,

6. Father’s Day, Teacher Appreciation Week,

7. Veteran’s Day, and

8. Grandparent’s Day, but

9. NO day appreciating all

10. the hard work of children.

11. Whereas a day to celebrate

12. the precious gift that

13. children are.

14. Whereas a day to appreciate

15. all the future’s children

16. hold. Whereas a day

17. to celebrate all the things

18. every child has

19. succeeded and achieved in.

To establish a law of all levels of government and education to inshore that at least every child in school should have 1hr of exercise a day.

1. Be it enacted by the Eight Grade Class of Wicomico Day School, that

2. A child should have 1hr of exercise a day

3. to prevent being weak, and death.

4. Every child in the U.S. should have exercise for its health,

5. which could lead to good behavior, and

6. create a better quality of life from childhood

7. to adulthood.

To establish a biannual tax holiday.

  1. Be it enacted by the Students

  3. at Wicomico Day School
  4. in Salisbury, that
  5. Whereas, it will promote
  6. shopping in Maryland.
  7. Whereas, prices are getting
  8. higher and higher every day.
  9. Whereas, people of the United
  10. States need a break from all of
  11. the high prices that stores
  12. put out every day.
  13. Whereas, kids could afford to get
  14. things for their parents, and vice versa.
  15. Whereas, people could afford to buy
  16. supplies that they couldn’t get before.
  17. Whereas, it will prevent stealing.
  18. All laws or part of laws in conflict
  19. herewith are hereby repealed to the
  20. extent of the conflict.
